John Cooper
Position: Corporate Manager
I am a professionally qualified builder and building surveyor. I run the family building business that was started by my grandfather in 1928, so it’s our 80th year in 2008.
Originally, my passion was football. I was an executive director on the board of Forest Green Rovers FC, experiencing the highs of three successive promotions and then enjoying 3 seasons in the Conference, and, 2 appearances in the FA Umbro Trophy Finals, one of these at the old Wembley. Yes, I walked on that hallowed turf. This all had to end to support my son Daniel in his racing career. In 2006 he made me immensely proud when he won the British National 125 Championship.
In 2007, Daniel had a stroke of luck when the Centurion Racing Team asked him to fly to Spain for their last 2 days of testing at Valencia. Gary Stubbington said, "We'll see what he is like and let you know". Well, they were suitably impressed and they signed him for the 2007 season, and crikey, what a first season that was!
Gary Stubbington and Paul Rees, the team owners, have asked me to get involved and to develop the Centurion Racing Corporate Hospitality. I was honoured to be asked to do so and will do all that I can to make this a success for the team. If I can match the team for effort, commitment and shear professionalism, then I will succeed in providing a fitting extra dimension to this dynamic race team.
